What StretchWP is

StretchWP is StretchSuite's managed WordPress hosting and control panel. It is the StretchSuite answer to WP Engine or Kinsta: instead of juggling a hosting cPanel, a DNS provider, an SSL dashboard, and a separate WordPress admin for every site, you run every WordPress site your team owns from one place inside your StretchSuite workspace, under Sites.

StretchWP takes care of the parts that break at 2 a.m. — the server, the SSL certificate, backups, and platform-level plugin updates — and gives you a clear, plain-English window into each site. Your job is to run your website; StretchWP keeps the platform underneath it healthy.

Key capabilities

Everything below is available from the Sites area of your workspace:

  • Starter-site onboarding. Request a professionally named managed WordPress install under sites.stretchmedia.ca (for example acme-studio.sites.stretchmedia.ca). StretchWP checks the name for availability, offers alternatives, and routes your request to the Stretch team for approval before anything is built. You can attach your own domain later.
  • The Site Control Panel. A per-site screen with tabs for Overview, Login, Domains, Credentials, Plugins, Backups, Health, and Events, plus at-a-glance status pills for Site, Domain, and SSL.
  • One-click, passwordless WordPress login. For paired sites, StretchWP mints a short-lived, single-use link straight into wp-admin — no password to remember, every issuance audited.
  • Self-service custom domains and SSL. Attach your own domain, prove ownership with a DNS TXT record, point your A/CNAME records at StretchWP, and let the platform issue and renew SSL automatically.
  • Live telemetry from a paired site. The StretchWP dashboard plugin reports WordPress and PHP versions, plugin inventory, backup history, and health back to your workspace on a regular heartbeat.
  • Signed managed plugin updates. StretchWP's own plugin suite — security (Defender), SEO, analytics, image optimization, snapshots/backups, and performance optimization — is updated through cryptographically signed packages delivered by the platform, so managed updates are verified before they are applied.
  • Automatic backups and restore. Managed snapshots run on a schedule and appear on the Backups tab; restores are handled by the Stretch team.
  • Health and uptime monitoring. StretchWP probes each site's public hostname for HTTP status, response time, and TLS validity, and records the results on the Health tab and the site timeline.
  • Migrations and staging (managed). Move an existing WordPress site onto StretchWP, or spin up a staging copy to test changes safely — performed by the Stretch team on request.
  • Managed lifecycle. Provisioning, suspension, and archival are handled by the Stretch team; you request a removal from the control panel and StretchWP verifies ownership before archiving.

How it fits the suite

StretchWP is one app in the StretchSuite platform. It shares your workspace, your organization, and your sign-in with the rest of the suite, and it uses the same design language and support experience you already know from StretchDesign, StretchShop, and the other Stretch apps. Sites are scoped to your organization and owner email, so your team sees exactly the sites it owns and nothing else.

Under the hood, each managed site pairs with the StretchWP Hub — the control plane that securely delivers signed plugin updates and management commands (backup, malware scan, update) and receives live telemetry back. You never touch that machinery directly; you see its results as clean status tiles and a readable event timeline.
