Tracking Progress with Reporting and the Dashboard

Review completed work in Reporting and read the Dashboard analytics to understand throughput, overdue load, and status mix.

Overview

StretchTasks gives you two places to see how work is going: the Dashboard, which surfaces live headline numbers and analytics, and Reporting, which is a running log of completed tasks. Together they answer how much are we getting done, and where is work piling up?

The Dashboard

The Dashboard opens with live counts across your organization, including:

  • Inbox — tasks still awaiting triage.
  • Today — tasks due today.
  • Overdue — active tasks past their due date.
  • Completed — total tasks finished.
  • Active tasks — everything not completed, cancelled, or archived.
  • Active projects, active labels, and active saved filters — the shape of your workspace.

Alongside the counts, the Dashboard shows analytics like completed-over-time, status mix, and recent activity, so you can see trends rather than just today's snapshot.

Reporting

The Reporting view lists your completed tasks, most recently completed first, with the project each belonged to. It's the audit trail of finished work — useful for status updates, client reports, and end-of-week reviews. Reporting shows your recent completions (the latest 100), so it stays fast and focused on what's current.

Steps: review your week

  1. Open the Dashboard and note the overdue and inbox counts — these tell you where attention is needed.
  2. Check the completed count and the completed-over-time trend to gauge throughput.
  3. Open Reporting to see exactly which tasks were finished and when.
  4. Cross-reference with Projects to see which initiatives are moving and which are stalled.
  5. Adjust: if overdue is climbing, open the Planner and reschedule; if the Inbox is deep, block time to triage.

Concrete example

On Friday a team lead opens the Dashboard: 42 completed this week (up from last week), 3 overdue, and a healthy Today count. She opens Reporting, scans the list of completed tasks, and copies the highlights into a client update. She notices the Acme Launch project has few completions this week, opens it, and sees several tasks stuck in a Blocked section — a cue to chase the blocker on Monday.

Tips

  • Watch the overdue count as your early-warning signal; a steady rise means you're over-committing due dates.
  • Use Reporting as the source for weekly status updates — it's already the list of what got done.
  • Pair Reporting with the Priorities view: Reporting shows what you finished, Priorities shows what to finish next.

FAQ

How far back does Reporting go? It shows your most recent completions (the latest 100), newest first, so it stays focused on current work.

Why did my completed count go up but a task left the Board? That's expected — completing a task removes it from active views and records it in Reporting; the completed count reflects it.

Can I see completed tasks by project? Yes — Reporting shows the project each completed task belonged to, so you can trace finished work back to its initiative.
