Overview
Labels are lightweight tags you attach to tasks, and saved filters (also called saved views) are reusable searches. Used together, they let you slice your work along any dimension — client, theme, urgency — without reorganizing your projects.
Labels
A label is a short tag like #launch, #billing, or #urgent-client. A task can carry several labels. Labels are ideal for cross-cutting themes — things that appear across many projects and don't fit a single project structure. You manage your labels from the Labels view.
Saved filters
A saved filter captures a set of search and filter criteria as a named, one-click view. Each saved filter has:
- A title and optional description.
- The query it runs (its status, priority, label, project, and keyword criteria).
- A visibility —
private(just you),workspace(everyone in your org), orinternal/customerfor suite-level audiences. - A status —
activeorarchived. - A sort order so your most-used views sit at the top.
Steps: create and use a label
- Open a task and add one or more labels in its Labels field (create a new label by typing it).
- Repeat across related tasks so the label spans everything on that theme.
- Open List, filter by that label, and you'll see every task carrying it.
Steps: save a filter
- Open List and build the exact filter you want (status, priority, label, project, keyword).
- Click Save view.
- Give it a title (e.g. "High-priority blocked"), an optional description, and a visibility.
- Save. The view appears under Filters in the left rail.
- To adjust it later, open the saved filter and update its criteria; to retire it, archive it.
Concrete example
An agency labels every task by client — #acme, #globex, #initech. When Acme calls, the account manager opens the List, filters to #acme and status not completed, and saves it as a workspace-visibility view called "Acme — open work." Now anyone on the team can click that saved view and instantly see everything open for Acme, sorted by priority.
Tips
- Keep a small, consistent label vocabulary — too many one-off labels defeats the purpose.
- Set a saved filter's visibility to workspace when the whole team should share it, and private for your personal views.
- Use sort order to pin your daily saved views to the top of the Filters list.
Troubleshooting
- My saved view disappeared. It may have been archived. Check the filter's status; archived views can be restored or recreated.
- A teammate can't see my saved view. Visibility controls who sees it. A
privateview is yours alone — change it toworkspaceto share. - A label isn't filtering anything. Confirm the label is actually applied to tasks (open a task and check its Labels field); an unused label returns no results.
