Getting Started with StretchTasks

What StretchTasks is, its core building blocks, and the first tasks to do as a new user.

What is StretchTasks?

StretchTasks is the StretchSuite app for capturing, organizing, prioritizing, and finishing work. Every task lives in one place and shows up across eleven connected views, so you can triage in an Inbox, plan your day on a Board or Planner, dig into a searchable List, get an engine-ranked running order in Priorities, and review results in Reporting — all backed by the same live task data.

Core concepts

Before you dive in, it helps to know the building blocks:

  • Task — a single unit of work with a title, description, priority, due date, reminder, checklist, and optional assignee.
  • Status — where a task sits in your flow: Inbox, Planned, Today, Upcoming, Waiting, or Blocked. Status drives the Board columns. Finishing a task moves it to Completed (and later Cancelled or Archived).
  • Priority — one of Urgent, High, Normal, or Low. Priority drives sorting and the stat bands.
  • Task typetask, subtask, follow-up, approval, reminder, or checklist item.
  • Due date & reminder — when the task is due, plus an optional reminder time and channel (in-app, email, SMS, or messenger).
  • Project & section — an optional grouping that collects related tasks (and sub-sections) under one name.
  • Labels & saved filters — lightweight tags and reusable searches for slicing your list.
  • Completion — marking a task done is a distinct action, separate from changing its status.

The views (left rail)

The navigation rail on the left switches between:

  1. Dashboard — headline counts plus analytics (completed-over-time, status mix, overdue load, recent activity).
  2. Board — status columns you can scan Kanban-style.
  3. Planner — day lanes (Overdue, Today, Tomorrow, Upcoming, No due date) with drag-to-reschedule.
  4. List — a dense, sortable, filterable table with search and bulk actions.
  5. Priorities — engine-ranked triage, critical path, and root blockers (when the engine is enabled).
  6. Inbox / Today / Upcoming — focused work queues.
  7. Projects — task groupings and their sections.
  8. Filters & Labels — your saved views and tags.
  9. Reporting — a log of completed tasks.

Your first five steps

1. Open StretchTasks. From the workspace or admin app switcher, choose StretchTasks. You'll land on the Dashboard.
2. Create your first task. Click New task (top right). Enter a Title (required), then set Status, Priority, and a Due date. Click Create task.

> In the admin console, creating a task is a protected write — you'll be asked to re-enter your password to authorize it. In the customer workspace, the task saves immediately.

3. Triage in the Inbox. New tasks land in Inbox by default. Open Inbox, click a task to edit it, and give it a status like Today or Planned.

4. Plan your day. Switch to Planner and drag a card from Today to Tomorrow (or any lane) to reschedule its due date instantly.

5. Complete work. When a task is done, click the check icon on any card or list row and confirm. It moves into Reporting and your Dashboard analytics update.

A quick example

You just got off a call and have three follow-ups. You click New task, add "Send Q3 proposal to Acme," set priority to High and a due date of tomorrow, and create it. It lands in your Inbox. You open Inbox, change its status to Today, and it now appears on your Board in the Today column and on your Planner in the Today lane. Tomorrow morning you open Today, finish the task, click the check, and it drops into Reporting while your completed count ticks up on the Dashboard.

Tips

  • Not sure where to start each morning? Open Today for what's due, or Priorities for an engine-ranked "do this next" sequence.
  • Set your default view (in Settings) to whatever you open most — many people prefer Today over the Inbox.
  • Give every task a status and a due date as you triage; it's what makes the Board, Planner, and Today views useful.

Where StretchTasks runs

StretchTasks appears both in the admin console (for your internal team) and in the customer workspace (for clients). The two surfaces stay in lockstep — same tasks, same views, scoped to your organization — so nothing gets lost between your team and your customers.
