Finding and Bulk-Updating Tasks in List View

Use the dense, searchable List to filter, sort, and act on many tasks at once.

Overview

The List is the power view. It shows every task in a dense, sortable table with search and filters, so when you need to find something specific — or update a batch of tasks — this is where you do it.

What the List shows

Each row shows a task's title, status, priority, due date, project, labels, and assignee. You can:

  • Search by keyword across titles and descriptions.
  • Filter by status, priority, project, label, assignee, and due window.
  • Sort by any column — priority, due date, created date, or title.
  • Save a filter combination as a reusable saved view.

Steps: find and update tasks

  1. Open List from the left rail.
  2. Type a keyword in the search box to narrow to matching tasks.
  3. Apply filters — for example, status = Blocked and priority = High — to isolate exactly the tasks you care about.
  4. Sort by due date to see what's most urgent first.
  5. Open any row to edit it inline, or use row actions to change status, priority, or due date quickly.
  6. Complete a task from its row with the check action.
  7. If you'll use this filter combination again, click Save view to turn it into a saved filter.

Concrete example

A client escalates and you need every open task tied to them. In the List, you search "Acme", filter status to exclude completed, and sort by priority. Twelve tasks surface. You bump the two most urgent to Urgent, reassign one to a teammate, and reschedule three to today. Then you click Save view and name it "Acme — open" so you can pull the same list in one click next time.

Tips

  • Combine search + filters to zero in fast — for example, search invoice with status Waiting to find every payment you're chasing.
  • Save the filters you run often as saved views; they appear under Filters in the left rail.
  • Sort by created date to find stale tasks that have been sitting untouched.

Troubleshooting

  • My search returns nothing. Search matches titles and descriptions — check spelling, and clear any active filters that might be excluding results.
  • A task I expected is missing. Completed, cancelled, and archived tasks are excluded from active list results by default. Adjust your status filter (or check Reporting) to include them.
  • My saved view is gone. Saved views can be archived. Check whether the view's status is archived; you can restore or recreate it from Filters.
