Overview
Settings control the defaults StretchTasks applies across every view — what opens first, how new tasks are pre-filled, what happens when you complete a task, and which timezone due dates and reminders use. Settings are scoped to your organization, so they shape the experience for everyone in your workspace.
What you can configure
Default view The view StretchTasks opens to. Choose from Inbox, Today, Upcoming, Projects, or Reporting. If your team lives in "what's due now," set this to Today; if you triage first, keep it on Inbox.
Default priority The priority pre-selected on every new task: Urgent, High, Normal, or Low. Most teams leave this at Normal and bump the exceptions up.
Completion behavior What happens to a task the moment you complete it:
- Archive after completion — completed tasks are tucked away (still visible in Reporting). This is the default.
- Retain completed — completed tasks stay visible in more places for a while before archiving.
- Remove from active views — completed tasks disappear from active queues immediately.
Default reminders A toggle that decides whether new tasks get a reminder by default. Turn this on if your team relies on nudges; leave it off to opt in per task.
Default timezone
The timezone used to interpret due dates and reminders — for example, America/Edmonton. Set this to your team's operating timezone so "due today" and reminder times mean what you expect.
Enabled A master switch for the StretchTasks surface in your workspace.
Steps: change your settings
- Open StretchTasks and go to Settings (from the left rail or the gear icon).
- Pick your Default view — for example, switch from
InboxtoToday. - Set the Default priority new tasks should start at.
- Choose a Completion behavior that matches how your team likes to see finished work.
- Toggle Default reminders on or off.
- Set the Default timezone to your operating region.
- Save. Your changes apply immediately across the app for your organization.
Example
A support team wants agents to see due work the moment they open the app, wants every ticket-task to start at High, and wants finished tasks to vanish from active queues so the board stays clean. In Settings they set Default view = Today, Default priority = High, Completion behavior = Remove from active views, and Default timezone = America/Edmonton. Now every agent opens straight into Today, new tasks are pre-set to High, and completed items clear out of the Board automatically while still logging in Reporting.
Tips
- Settings apply to the whole organization — coordinate changes with your team so the default view doesn't shift under someone mid-task.
- If reminders aren't firing the way you expect, check the Default timezone first; a mismatched timezone is the most common cause of "wrong time" reminders.
- Archive after completion keeps your active views clean while preserving a full record in Reporting — a good default for most teams.
FAQ
Do settings change existing tasks? No. Defaults like priority and reminders apply to new tasks. Completion behavior applies going forward from when you save it.
Can each person have their own default view? Settings are organization-scoped. For a personal starting point, use a saved filter or bookmark a specific view.
What does "Enabled" do? It's the master switch for the StretchTasks surface in your workspace. Leave it on unless you're intentionally turning the app off for your organization.
