Managing Your Website's Social Links

Curate the social profile links that appear in your website's header, footer, and contact page from the StretchSocial link registry.

Overview

Separate from scheduling posts, StretchSocial also manages the social profile links that appear on your public website — the little row of network icons in your header, footer, and contact page. These are the links pointing at your brand's profiles (your LinkedIn Page, your Instagram, your X account), not the posts you publish. Curating them here keeps your site's social links consistent and correct across every brand you run.

Note: The social-link registry is typically managed from the administrative "Core" controller for your site rather than the everyday posting workspace. If you don't see it, your role may not include site-link management — ask your administrator.

Each link record describes one profile button on your site and carries these fields:

  • Brand — which brand the link belongs to (so multi-brand sites stay separated).
  • Platform — the network (linkedin, instagram, x, and so on).
  • Label — the accessible label/tooltip for the link, e.g. Follow us on LinkedIn.
  • URL — the destination profile URL.
  • Icon — which network icon to show.
  • Placement toggles — show the link in the header, in the footer, and/or on the contact page.
  • Open in new tab — whether the link opens a new browser tab (on by default).
  • Sort order — the position of the icon relative to the others.
  • Active — whether the link is live on the site.
  1. Open the social links manager.
  2. To add one, provide the brand, platform, label, and destination URL — these are required.
  3. Pick the icon, set the placement toggles (header/footer/contact), choose open in new tab, and set a sort order.
  4. Set Active on when you're ready for it to appear on the site, and save.
  5. To change an existing link, open it, edit the fields, and save — you can toggle placements or deactivate a link without deleting it.

Concrete example

You want LinkedIn and Instagram icons in your footer, but only LinkedIn in the header:

  1. Add a link: brand Acme, platform linkedin, label Acme on LinkedIn, URL https://linkedin.com/company/acme, header on, footer on, contact on, sort order 1, active on.
  2. Add a link: brand Acme, platform instagram, label Acme on Instagram, URL https://instagram.com/acme, header off, footer on, contact on, sort order 2, active on.
  3. Your site now shows LinkedIn in the header and both icons in the footer and contact page, in that order.

Tips

  • Keep labels descriptive for accessibility — screen readers announce them.
  • Use sort order to control icon sequence rather than re-creating links.
  • Deactivate (toggle Active off) instead of deleting when you're temporarily pulling a profile — you keep the record.
  • Keep placement consistent across brands so your sites feel cohesive.

FAQ

Is this the same as connecting a channel for posting? No. A connection lets you plan and schedule posts to a network; a social link is just an outbound profile link shown on your website. They're independent.

Why don't I see the links manager? It's usually an administrative surface for site content; ask your administrator if you need access.

Can I have different links per brand? Yes — the brand field scopes each link, so multi-brand sites keep their own sets.
