Customers, Segments & the Analytics Dashboard

Manage customer profiles, addresses, store credit, and consent; group buyers into segments; and read your analytics and exportable reports.

Overview

StretchShop keeps a profile for every buyer and turns your sales into insight. This guide covers customer records (orders, addresses, store credit, marketing consent), segments for grouping buyers, and the analytics dashboard and reports that show how your store is doing.

Customer profiles

  1. Open Customers to see your buyer list with order counts and lifetime value.
  2. Click a customer to view their orders, addresses, store credit, and consent status.
  3. Create a customer manually with New customer, or edit an existing one. You can also remove a customer record.

Addresses and order history

Each customer can hold multiple addresses and shows their full order history, so support and repeat-purchase flows are one click away.

Store credit

Store credit is a balance a customer can spend with you.

  1. Open a customer and view their store credit balance (per currency).
  2. Add or deduct store credit with a reason — useful for goodwill, returns without a card refund, or loyalty rewards.

Respect privacy and stay compliant by tracking consent. Update a customer's marketing consent to reflect whether they've opted in to email. Segments and campaigns should target consented customers.

Segments

Segments group customers so you can market to the right people.

  1. Open Segments and click New segment; define the criteria (for example high spenders, or buyers of a collection).
  2. Save. Open the segment to view its members, paging through with limit/offset for large audiences.
  3. Use a segment as the audience for a campaign (see Email Campaigns, Automations & Abandoned-Checkout Recovery).

The analytics dashboard

Analytics turn raw activity into numbers you can act on:

  • Overview — headline metrics (orders, revenue, and more) for a selected date range.
  • Live — real-time activity over the last few minutes, so you can see traffic during a launch.
  • Top — your best-performing items and drivers for the range.
  • Collect — your storefront can send events (views, add-to-cart) into StretchShop to enrich these numbers.

Set the range to compare periods, and refresh to pull the latest data.

Reports

When you need detail beyond the dashboard, build a report:

  1. Open Reports and create a report definition for what you want to measure.
  2. Run the report to compute current results.
  3. Export the results to CSV to share with your team or accountant.

A realistic example

After a busy weekend you open Analytics > Overview for the last 7 days and see revenue up 30%. Top shows the "Cedar & Sage Candle" leading. You build a segment of customers who bought from "Summer 2026" and consented to email, then plan a campaign to them. A customer who returned an item without wanting a card refund gets $20 store credit with reason "Return — store credit chosen." At month end you run and export a sales report to CSV for bookkeeping.

Tips

  • Keep consent accurate — only market to opted-in customers to stay compliant.
  • Use store credit as a friction-free alternative to card refunds for returns and goodwill.
  • Save segments you use repeatedly so campaigns are one click to launch.
  • Watch Live during launches and sales to catch issues (or celebrate spikes) as they happen.

FAQ

  • Where do customers come from? From orders and manual creation — anyone who buys or is added becomes a profile with history and value.
  • Can I export analytics? Build a report and export it to CSV; the dashboard is for at-a-glance monitoring.
  • Why is a customer missing from a segment? They may not meet the criteria or may not have the required consent; check both.
