StretchMeet is the built-in video meeting app in StretchSuite. This guide walks you from opening the app for the first time to finishing your first real meeting, so you can start hosting calls in a few minutes.

Before you begin
You need:
- A StretchSuite workspace account with access to StretchMeet.
- A modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari) with camera and microphone permissions.
- A quiet spot and a stable internet connection for the best call quality.
StretchMeet runs on its own native media engine, so in most cases there is nothing to install — meetings open right in the browser.
Open StretchMeet
- Sign in to your StretchSuite workspace.
- Open the app launcher and select StretchMeet.
- You'll land on the dashboard, which shows your upcoming and recent meetings, your connected providers, active sessions, and recent recordings.
Run your first meeting
- From the dashboard, click New meeting (or Schedule).
- Give the meeting a title, for example "Acme kickoff call." Add an optional description so attendees know the agenda.
- Leave the provider set to StretchMeet to use the native engine. (You can connect an external provider later — see Choosing Between the Native Engine and External Providers.)
- Set a start time and either an end time or a duration in minutes, and confirm the timezone. If you want to meet right now, you can skip scheduling and start immediately.
- Under access, keep the defaults for your first run: a waiting room on, host approval lobby mode, and a passcode required. These keep the room private.
- Click Create. Your meeting is created in the scheduled (or draft) state.
- Open the meeting and click Start to take it live.
- Allow your browser to use your camera and microphone when prompted, and you're in.
Invite people
- From the live meeting or the meeting details page, copy the join link.
- Share it with attendees by email, chat, or calendar invite. If the room requires a passcode, share that too (or send it separately for extra security).
- As people arrive, admit them from the waiting room if host approval is on.
For a deeper look at roles and guest access, see Inviting Participants & Joining a Meeting.
Finish the meeting
- When you're done, click End to close the meeting for everyone. The room moves to the ended state.
- If you recorded, your recording will appear under Recordings on the dashboard once processing finishes.
- If transcription or the AI summary was enabled, the transcript and recap become available as meeting artifacts shortly after.
A realistic example
Maria, a consultant, needs to run a discovery call with a new client at 2:00 PM. She opens StretchMeet, clicks New meeting, titles it "Discovery — Nguyen & Co," sets 2:00-2:45 PM in her timezone, and leaves the waiting room and passcode on. She copies the join link into her calendar invite and emails the passcode to the client. At 2:00 she clicks Start, admits the client from the waiting room, and turns on recording. After the call she ends the meeting, and by 2:50 the recording, transcript, and an AI summary with action items are waiting for her on the dashboard.
Tips
- Do a 30-second test. Start a meeting by yourself first to check your camera, mic, and lighting before an important call.
- Name meetings clearly. A descriptive title makes recordings and summaries easy to find later.
- Keep the defaults for external calls. Waiting room + host approval + passcode is a safe combination when guests are involved.
- Link it to a record. If the call is about a specific client or project, open it from that record (or add the link) so the recording and summary stay in context.
Troubleshooting
- The camera or mic won't turn on. Check your browser's site permissions and make sure no other app is holding the camera. Reload the meeting tab after granting access.
- You can't start the meeting. Only a host or co-host can start a meeting. Confirm your role, and that the room hasn't already been cancelled or ended.
- Attendees are stuck in the waiting room. With host approval on, someone with a host or co-host role must admit them. See Hosting a Live Meeting.
Once you've run a meeting or two, explore Understanding Your StretchMeet Dashboard to make sense of everything the app is tracking for you.
