Real-Time Collaboration and Suggestions

Edit a document together in real time with live cursors, presence, and instant typing, and capture edits made in Suggesting mode into the Review tab.

StretchDocs can now show your collaborators editing the same document at the same time:

  • Presence — see who else has the document open, as name chips.
  • Live cursors and selections — watch where each person is typing or selecting.
  • Instant typing — text you and others type (and delete) appears for everyone right away, kept consistent by the document server.

Suggesting mode (track changes)

When you edit in Suggesting mode, your changes are captured as suggestions and collected in the Review tab, where they can be accepted or rejected — completing the track-changes loop end to end.

How to use it

  1. Open a document in StretchDocs.
  2. When a teammate opens the same document, their presence chip and cursor appear.
  3. Switch the editor to Suggesting mode to propose edits; review them from the Review tab.

Availability

Beta — rolling out. Live collaboration is released behind a feature flag and requires a final live check before it is on for everyone. Your document content and history are always saved regardless. If you do not see live cursors yet, real-time editing has not been enabled for your workspace.

Current limits (being expanded)

  • Live typing converges within a paragraph immediately; larger structural edits (splitting or merging paragraphs at the exact same instant) reconcile through the normal autosave.
  • Comment and suggestion markers are anchored at the document level today; pinning them to a live text range is on the roadmap.
