What StretchDocs is

StretchDocs is the document workspace inside StretchSuite — the suite's answer to Google Docs, built for teams that treat documents as operational assets rather than loose files. It is where you write and manage the documents your business runs on: standard operating procedures (SOPs), product and technical specs, meeting notes, client handoffs, project briefs, and policies.

The difference from an ordinary file drive is governance. Every StretchDocs document carries structured metadata with it — a status (Draft, Review, Published, or Archived), a folder, an owner, a version number, a live word count, and a record of who last saved it. Nothing lives in a cryptic file name. You always know whether a document is finished, who is responsible for it, and where it belongs.

Who it's for

StretchDocs suits any team that produces repeatable, reviewable written work: operations teams standardizing procedures, product teams writing specs, agencies delivering client handoffs, and leadership publishing policies. It works identically on both StretchSuite surfaces — the admin (agency) workspace and the customer workspace — with strict per-organization isolation, so your documents are only ever visible to your own organization.

Key capabilities

  • A governed document library. Browse, filter, and open every document from one place, each tagged with status, folder, owner, type, version, and word count. The dashboard rolls this up into live counts (total documents, drafts, published, folders, total words) so you can see the state of your document estate at a glance.
  • A writable, collaborative editor. Documents open in a full editor that autosaves and increments a version on every save. Multiple people can edit the same document at the same time, with live presence showing who else is in the room and where their cursor is.
  • A controlled template library. Start from shared, platform-maintained starters — SOP, Product Spec, Meeting Notes, and Client Handoff — so documents begin consistent instead of from a blank page.
  • A structured review workflow. Reviewers leave comments anchored to specific text and propose suggestions (tracked changes) that authors can accept or reject, so feedback is explicit and auditable rather than buried in a chat thread.
  • Version history and snapshots. Every save is versioned, and you can capture named snapshots as deliberate restore points before a big rewrite or a client send.
  • Document Intelligence. When enabled for your organization, a built-in analysis engine scores each document's structure and quality, estimates readability, produces an extractive summary, and surfaces the top keywords — a fast, objective second read before you publish. An optional AI summary goes further, generating a plain-language summary plus key points and action items.
  • Export and portability. Export any document to HTML, plain text, or JSON for archiving, sharing outside the suite, or handing off to another system.

How it fits the suite

StretchDocs shares the same tenancy spine, sign-in, and organization model as the rest of StretchSuite, so a document you write lives alongside your CRM records, projects, contracts, and drive storage under one account. Real-time collaboration is powered by the suite's shared real-time service, and Document Intelligence draws on the same platform AI layer used across StretchSuite. Access is governed by your workspace membership: organization owners and admins always have access, and other members are granted the Docs app individually.

Where to start

If you're brand new, read Getting Started with StretchDocs to learn the core concepts and create your first document, then Workspace Access and Permissions to make sure the right people can see it. From there, Managing Your Document Library and Starting Documents from Templates cover day-to-day organization, while the Guides category walks through collaboration, review, versioning, and export end to end.
