Agreements
How is an agreement different from a document? An agreement is a structured record — title, type, status, owner, value, currency, and key dates — not just a file. That structure is what powers dashboards, renewals, and risk scoring.
What's a contract key? A short, stable identifier StretchContracts generates for each agreement from its type (for example nda-8f2a1c9b04). Use it to reference an agreement anywhere.
What currency does StretchContracts use? Each agreement has its own currency; the default is CAD. Change it per agreement as needed.
What happens when I delete an agreement? It's archived — a soft-delete that sets the status to archived with a timestamp and hides it from active lists, while preserving the record for audit. To restore it, change its status back.
Can I move an agreement backward in the pipeline? Yes. Status is a field you can set to any valid value, so you can reopen a draft if negotiations restart.
Templates
Do I have to use a template? No, but they're a big time-saver. You can also create a blank agreement (type custom) and enter the body directly.
Can I change the wording after drafting from a template? Yes. The template is only a starting point; the agreement's body is fully editable afterward.
Are the templates legal advice? No. They're well-structured generic starting points. Have your counsel review anything material.
What are merge fields? Placeholders like {{party_a_name}} and {{effective_date}} you fill in when drafting. Required ones are marked.
E-signature
Do signers need a StretchSuite account? No. They sign in their browser via a secure link.
Is the electronic signature legally binding? The flow captures explicit, recorded electronic-signature consent aligned with UETA/ESIGN, and seals every action into a tamper-evident audit trail. For jurisdiction-specific questions, consult your counsel.
What roles can recipients have? Signer, approver, CC, and viewer. An envelope needs at least one signer or approver to be sent.
What field types can I place? Signature, initials, date, text, and checkbox.
Can I require signers to sign in order? Yes — turn on ordered signing and set each recipient's routing order. Lower numbers sign first.
Can I add a password to a signing link? Yes — set an access code on a recipient and share it out of band. After 5 wrong attempts in 15 minutes, the recipient is locked out for 15 minutes.
Can I change recipients or fields after sending? No. Those are locked once the envelope is sent. Void it and create a new one if you need changes.
How do I cancel an envelope? Void it (you can add a reason). You can't void an envelope that's already completed, declined, or expired.
Can I download the signed PDF? Downloadable PDF export isn't currently enabled. Your authoritative record is the completed envelope, its verified audit trail, and the sealed completion certificate.
Renewals and intelligence
What counts as "renewals due"? Agreements with a renewal date inside the next 45 days that are approved or active.
Why is an agreement's risk "unknown"? It has no end or renewal date. Add one so it can be scored.
What are the risk levels? Critical (overdue), high (≤15 days), medium (≤45 days), low (>45 days), unknown (no date).
How do I catch silent auto-renewals? Mark the agreement's auto-renew metadata and set its notice period. The auto-renew will trigger watchlist flags these before the deadline.
Is AI analysis available? It's a flag-gated feature. When enabled, it summarizes contracts and extracts parties, dates, terms, obligations, and risk flags — informational only, not legal advice. If you don't see it, ask your administrator.
General
Is StretchContracts a separate product I pay extra for? It's part of StretchSuite and shares your organization and identity with the other apps — including built-in e-signature with no add-on tool to license.
Who can see my agreements? Agreements are scoped to your organization. In the workspace, you only ever see your own organization's contracts.
