About StretchCode
What is StretchCode? It's the StretchSuite app for building and running an online learning academy — authoring courses, publishing a searchable catalog, enrolling learners, quizzing them, tracking progress, and issuing verifiable completion certificates.
Does StretchCode run or execute code? No. It's a content and learning platform. You write lessons (in Markdown or HTML), learners read/watch them and take quizzes, and completion is tracked server-side.
Is it the same as the public StretchCode academy? It's the same engine. The public coding academy is one instance; in your workspace you build your own org-scoped courses on the same catalog, quiz, and certificate machinery.
Courses and content
How is a course structured? Course → Modules (ordered) → Lessons (ordered). A course can also have a final quiz and prerequisites.
What lesson types are there? Lesson, video, exercise, and reading. Each lesson body is either Markdown or HTML, has an estimated duration, and can be marked a free preview.
What does 'free preview' do? A free-preview lesson is readable by anyone, including anonymous visitors. All other lessons are locked to enrolled learners.
Can I edit a published course? Yes; edits go live immediately. Do large rewrites in draft or during quiet hours.
Enrollment and learners
Do learners need accounts? Yes, to enroll, track progress, take quizzes, and earn certificates. Anonymous visitors can read free-preview lessons only.
How does the 'Continue' button work? It jumps a learner to their first incomplete published lesson, based on module and lesson order.
Can I see who's enrolled and how far they've gotten? Yes — each course has a Learners/Progress view showing enrollment, last activity, completed-lesson counts, and completion.
Quizzes
How are quizzes graded? Server-side. Score is correct ÷ total questions as a percentage; passing means meeting the pass threshold (default 70%). Correct answers are never sent to the learner before they submit.
Can learners retake a quiz? Yes. Every attempt is recorded and the learner's best score is kept.
Do quizzes affect completion? Yes. Completing a course requires finishing all published lessons AND passing all published quizzes.
Certificates
When is a certificate issued? Automatically, the first time a learner completes everything (all lessons complete and all quizzes passed). Each learner gets exactly one certificate per course.
What does a certificate look like? It has a unique serial in the form SC-XXXXXXXXXX and a public verification page showing the holder's name, course, level, and issue date.
Can anyone verify a certificate? Yes — the verification page needs no login, so learners can share the link. It isn't search-indexed, so certificates stay private-by-link.
Visibility and discovery
Why isn't my course in the catalog? The catalog only lists courses that are both published and public. Internal or draft courses are excluded.
How do learners find courses? Through the searchable, filterable catalog (search, category, subject, level, and a Popular sort), through learning paths, and via search engines through the SEO fields and sitemap.
What's the difference between public and internal? Public courses can appear in the catalog and sitemap; internal courses are for your organization only.
AI assist
How does AI lesson generation work? Enter a topic and it returns a draft lesson scaffold — title, objectives, outline, and a starter quiz — for you to refine and publish. It's feature-flagged and may not be enabled in every workspace.
Why don't I see AI assist? It's optional and controlled by a workspace feature flag and model availability. Ask your StretchSuite administrator to enable it.
