What StretchCode is
StretchCode is the StretchSuite app for building and running your own online learning academy. You author courses, organize them into a searchable catalog and guided learning paths, enroll learners, quiz them, track their progress, and issue verifiable completion certificates — all from inside your workspace. There is no separate LMS to bolt on: courses, learners, and certificates live alongside the rest of your StretchSuite data and use the same platform identity.
The same engine powers the public StretchCode coding academy at stretchcode.ca, so anything you build inherits the same catalog, search, SEO, demand-driven "trending" signals, and certificate machinery that runs a public-scale catalog of thousands of courses.

The core model
Everything in StretchCode is built from a small, predictable hierarchy:
- Course — the top-level unit a learner enrolls in. It carries a title, URL slug, level (beginner, intermediate, advanced, or all levels), summary, cover and hero images, topic and skill tags, learning outcomes, an instructor name, and SEO fields.
- Module — an ordered section inside a course that groups related lessons.
- Lesson — a single learning unit inside a module. Each lesson has a body (written in Markdown or HTML), a type (lesson, video, exercise, or reading), an estimated duration, and an optional free-preview flag so anonymous visitors can sample it.
- Assessment (quiz) — a course-level quiz with multiple-choice questions and a configurable pass threshold. Passing every published quiz is required to complete a course.
- Enrollment — a learner's registration in a course; it anchors their progress and last-accessed time.
- Certificate — issued automatically the first time a learner finishes everything, with a unique verifiable serial (
SC-XXXXXXXXXX). - Learning path — a curated bundle of courses for a role or level, so learners can follow a sequence rather than pick courses at random.
Every course, module, and lesson has a lifecycle status — draft, published, or archived — and each course has a visibility of public or internal, giving you precise control over what learners can see.
What you can do
- Author full courses with a builder: create the module/lesson tree, write lesson content, reorder everything, and set durations and previews.
- Add quizzes with server-graded multiple-choice questions, a pass mark (default 70%), best-attempt tracking, and per-question explanations shown after submission.
- Publish a catalog that learners can search and filter by keyword, category, subject, and level, with featured courses, badges, and a "popular" sort.
- Group courses into learning paths organized by role and level.
- Track learners — see who is enrolled in each course, how far they've progressed, and who has completed.
- Award certificates automatically on completion, each with a public, shareable verification page.
- Surface demand with the Demand Radar: subjects carry demand scores and rank, and hot subjects show a "trending" badge and can be sorted to the top.
- Draft lessons with AI — generate a lesson title, learning objectives, a section outline, and a starter quiz from a single topic prompt (when AI assist is enabled for your workspace).
- Rank in search — every course exposes SEO title/description fields, feeds an XML sitemap, and emits share-friendly link previews.
How it fits the suite
StretchCode uses your StretchSuite workspace identity and organization, so learners, authors, and admins are the same accounts you already manage across the suite. Courses you build are scoped to your organization, and the public learner experience (catalog, course pages, the lesson player, quizzes, and certificates) is served from the same platform. That means an academy you stand up in StretchCode is production-ready — searchable, enrollable, and certifiable — without leaving the suite.
