Finance Intelligence: Summaries, Signals, and Integrations

A read-only intelligence layer that summarizes cash flow, receivables, payables, and tax, previews forecasting signals, and pulls context from across StretchSuite.

What Finance Intelligence is

Finance Intelligence is StretchBooks' analytics layer. It reads your live books and related StretchSuite data and turns them into summaries and preview signals — without moving money or changing records. It's a read-and-recommend layer: you stay in control of every action.

What it summarizes now

Finance Intelligence rolls up your current position across the whole app, including:

  • Receivables and payables — open invoice and bill balances and counts, and how many are overdue.
  • Invoiced, paid, and expense totals.
  • Cash-related counts — posted payments and posted transactions.
  • Reference data health — active customers, vendors, accounts, and tax codes.

These summaries power the always-available views: cash-flow summary, receivables summary, payables summary, and tax summary.

Preview (dry-run) signals

Beyond summaries, Finance Intelligence previews more advanced signals in dry-run mode — they're computed for you to review, never applied automatically:

  • Cash-flow forecast
  • Payment risk score and collection priority (which customers to chase first)
  • Retainer health score
  • Tax anomaly detection
  • Project margin forecast

Every one of these requires human approval before it drives any action, and none of them changes your records. Automatic money movement, bank-feed sync, payment-provider mutation, and tax filing are all deliberately kept off.

Cross-suite integrations

Finance Intelligence is richer because it reads context from the rest of StretchSuite:

  • StretchCRM — open and won deals and customer context, so pipeline connects to cash.
  • StretchContracts — signed contract values and renewals.
  • StretchAnalytics — activity events and metric rollups.
  • StretchFiles — receipts and attachments (foundation for document-linked finance).
  • StretchMail — billing communications and follow-ups (planned).

Because these apps share your organization, the customer in CRM, the contract in Contracts, and the invoice in StretchBooks are the same relationship — no duplicate entry.

Step-by-step: use Finance Intelligence

  1. Open the Finance Intelligence view in StretchBooks.
  2. Read the summaries — receivables, payables, cash flow, and tax — for your current position.
  3. Review any preview signals (for example collection priority) as recommendations.
  4. Act on them yourself in the relevant tab — for example, follow up on the top-priority overdue invoice, or record a payment.

Worked example

Northlight Coaching opens Finance Intelligence and sees open receivables concentrated in two overdue invoices, a healthy retainer signal, and a collection-priority preview highlighting one client. The founder follows up on that client's invoice and records the payment when it arrives — the intelligence pointed the way; the person took the action.

Tips

  • Treat preview signals as a to-do list, not an autopilot — they're recommendations you approve and act on.
  • Keep CRM, Contracts, and Analytics data current; richer inputs mean sharper summaries.
  • Use the receivables and collection-priority views to focus your week's follow-ups where the cash is.

FAQ

Will Finance Intelligence pay bills or send money for me? No. It never moves money or mutates records. Automated payments, bank sync, and tax filing are intentionally disabled; every action stays with you.

Are the forecasts saved as official numbers? No — preview signals are dry-run outputs for review, not authoritative records.

What powers the summaries? Your live StretchBooks records plus context from StretchCRM, StretchContracts, and StretchAnalytics within your organization.
