Absorbing Your Brand: Build a Brand Fingerprint

How StretchBAS reads your website and public social profiles to build a reusable brand fingerprint, and how to give it the best source material.

What "absorbing" a brand means

Absorbing is the very first thing you do in StretchBAS. It reads your brand's own content and distills a brand fingerprint — a structured, reusable capture of how your brand sounds and what it stands for. Every generation, content pack, social post, and consistency score is powered by a fingerprint, so a good absorb makes everything downstream better.

StretchBAS builds the fingerprint from two sources:

  • Your indexed website content. StretchBAS reads the pages that StretchSearch has crawled for your brand — titles, headings, meta descriptions, and body text — and finds your recurring themes and signature phrases.
  • Your public social presence. It also discovers your brand's own social profiles from the StretchSuite link graph and folds in the public bios and taglines those profiles expose (for example an og:title or profile description). If nothing public is available, absorption simply stays web-only.

Before you absorb: crawl your site

Absorb only works on content that is already indexed. If your site has never been crawled, the absorb will stop with a clear message: "No crawled pages found for this brand — crawl it in StretchSearch first."

  1. Open StretchSearch from the workspace left rail.
  2. Add your brand's domain and run a crawl. Let it index your key pages — home, about, services/products, and any content or blog pages that carry your voice.
  3. Wait for the crawl to finish, then return to StretchBAS.

Absorbing your brand step by step

  1. Open StretchBAS → Absorb.
  2. In the subject field, enter your brand's domain (for example paynecoaching.co) or brand name. The domain is the most reliable input because it matches your crawled pages directly.
  3. (Optional) If you organize crawls into a StretchSearch project, you can point the absorb at that project so it reads only those pages.
  4. Run the absorb. StretchBAS assembles a corpus from your indexed pages, extracts baseline themes and signature phrases, adds any public social text, and asks the brand model to distill the fingerprint.
  5. When it finishes, your new profile appears with a status of ready. This spends 1 credit. If the run fails for any reason, the credit is refunded automatically.

What ends up in the fingerprint

The fingerprint is a structured profile that a copywriter (or the StretchBAS generator) can follow exactly. It captures:

  • Voice and tone — how you sound.
  • Personality — the traits behind the voice.
  • Audience — who you are talking to.
  • Value propositions — the promises you make.
  • Themes — the subjects you return to.
  • Vocabulary — words and phrases that are distinctly yours.
  • Do / Don't rules — what to always do and always avoid.
  • Tagline style and sample sentences — reference examples of your voice in action.

Example

Payne Coaching Co. has a warm, direct, encouraging voice. After crawling paynecoaching.co, Beau enters the domain in the Absorb tab. StretchBAS reads 24 pages, notices recurring themes like accountability, habits, and small wins, discovers the brand's LinkedIn and Instagram bios, and produces a fingerprint that captures the coaching-but-not-preachy tone. Beau now has a profile he can generate from indefinitely.

Tips

  • Crawl your best pages. The fingerprint is only as good as the content it reads. Make sure your voice-defining pages (about, services, signature content) are indexed before you absorb.
  • Use the domain as the subject. It matches your crawled pages most precisely; a bare brand name can be ambiguous.
  • Absorb once, reuse forever. You do not need to re-absorb for every task — one fingerprint powers unlimited generations.
  • Refresh after a rebrand. When your messaging or positioning changes, re-crawl and absorb again to capture the new voice (this creates a fresh profile and spends 1 credit).
  • Public social is a bonus, not a requirement. If your brand has no public social text, absorption still works from your website alone.

Troubleshooting

  • "No crawled pages found for this brand — crawl it in StretchSearch first." Your domain hasn't been indexed yet, or the subject you typed doesn't match the crawled domain. Run a StretchSearch crawl, then use the exact domain as the subject.
  • The fingerprint feels thin or generic. Your crawl probably captured only a few low-content pages. Index more of your voice-rich pages and absorb again.
  • Absorb failed / model unavailable. Fingerprint synthesis needs the brand model to be online. If it is temporarily unavailable you will see a 503-style message and your credit is refunded — try again shortly.
