Switch between workspaces and organizations

How to move between multiple organizations you belong to, when you'll be asked to choose one, and how to make sure you're always working in the right place.

When you'll have more than one workspace

Most people belong to a single organization and never think about this. But some belong to several — an agency and its clients, a bookkeeper serving multiple businesses, a consultant with their own company plus a client's. Each organization you're a member of is a separate workspace you can open, and StretchSuite makes it easy (and safe) to move between them.

Remember the model: your login is personal, but each organization is a separate container with its own data, apps, and plan. Switching workspaces means changing which organization is active.

Choosing a workspace at sign-in

  1. Sign in with your email and password.
  2. The platform checks how many organizations you belong to.
  3. If you belong to one, you go straight to that workspace's dashboard.
  4. If you belong to more than one, you land on the Select a workspace screen listing every organization you're a member of.
  5. Pick the one you want to work in. It becomes your active workspace and you're taken to its dashboard.

Switching after you're already signed in

You don't have to sign out to change organizations:

  1. Look for the Switch workspace control in the workspace header (it's also reachable via the Select a workspace screen).
  2. Select it to see the list of organizations you belong to.
  3. Choose a different organization.
  4. The entire workspace re-scopes to that organization — different data, and potentially a different set of unlocked apps because entitlements are per-organization.

A realistic example

An agency operator, Sam, belongs to three organizations: his agency Northlight, and two clients he manages, Harbor & Vine and Cedar Coffee. He signs in and the Select a workspace screen lists all three. He picks Northlight to review his own pipeline in StretchCRM. Then he uses Switch workspace to jump into Harbor & Vine to send a client invoice from StretchBooks, and again into Cedar Coffee to schedule a social post in StretchSocial. Each switch cleanly changes the data and the available apps; nothing bleeds between clients. Same login, three isolated workspaces.

Making sure you're in the right place

Because switching changes everything, it's worth a two-second habit:

  • Check the header. The active organization's name is shown; glance at it before creating or editing records.
  • If data looks unfamiliar, you're probably in the wrong workspace — switch rather than assuming records are missing.
  • Each organization has its own plan. An app that's unlocked in one workspace may be locked in another. That's expected, not a bug.

Tips

  • Do all of one client's work in one sitting before switching, to reduce the chance of acting in the wrong organization.
  • Bookmark the dashboard, not deep links. A deep link opened in the wrong active organization can be confusing; the dashboard always reflects the current workspace.
  • If you only ever see one organization but expected more, you may not have been added to the others yet — the organization's admin needs to add your email as a member.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the Select a workspace screen. That screen only appears when you belong to more than one organization. If you belong to one, you go straight in.

An organization I should belong to isn't listed. Ask that organization's administrator to confirm your email was added as a member. Memberships are managed per-organization.

I switched and my apps changed. That's correct — entitlements are per-organization, so the unlocked apps reflect whichever workspace is active.

I'm not sure which organization I'm in. Open the Account app; it shows your active organization and all memberships.
