Your organization owns your data
Everything you create in StretchSuite belongs to an organization — your company's container on the platform. A contact in StretchCRM, an invoice in StretchBooks, a file in StretchDrive, a page in StretchPages: each one is stamped with your organization's identity and stored under it. Your organization is also what carries your subscription and entitlements.
This single-owner model is why the suite feels connected. Because all your apps share the same organization, the same contact, file, or brand asset is available everywhere without importing or syncing.
What data isolation means
StretchSuite is multi-tenant: many organizations use the same platform, but each organization is a separate "tenant" whose data is strictly walled off from every other. This is called data isolation, and it's a core guarantee:
- You only ever see your own organization's data. When you're working in an app, every list, record, and report is scoped to your active organization.
- No other customer can see your data, and you can't see theirs. There's no shared pool of records.
- Every request is checked. When you open an app, the platform confirms which organization you're acting in and returns only that organization's data — the isolation is enforced on the server, not just hidden in the interface.
How it works when you sign in
- You sign in with your personal account.
- The platform looks up the organizations you're a member of.
- If you belong to one organization, it becomes your active workspace automatically. If you belong to several, you choose one on the Select a workspace screen.
- From that point, everything you do is scoped to the active organization — the data you see, the apps you can open, and the plan that applies.
- If you switch organizations, the entire workspace re-scopes to the new one: different data, potentially different apps.
A realistic example
Priya is a bookkeeper who works with two clients that both use StretchSuite: Harbor & Vine and Cedar Coffee. She has one personal account with memberships in both organizations. When she signs in and selects Harbor & Vine, she sees only Harbor & Vine's invoices and contacts. She finishes, switches to Cedar Coffee, and now sees only Cedar Coffee's data — Harbor & Vine's records are completely invisible in that context. Neither client can see the other's books, even though the same person is doing the work. That's data isolation in practice.
Why this matters for you
- Privacy and trust. Your business data isn't commingled with anyone else's.
- Clean multi-brand operation. Agencies and multi-brand operators can run several organizations without risk of one client's data leaking into another.
- Predictable access. Because entitlements are tied to the organization, the apps available always match the organization you're in.
Tips
- Confirm your active organization before you start work, especially if you belong to more than one. The workspace header shows which one is active.
- Think "one organization per business." A single company is one organization; a person can belong to many.
- Your login is personal; your organization is shared. Teammates each have their own account and join the organization — see Switch between workspaces and organizations and your Account app's memberships.
FAQ
Can two organizations share a contact or file? Not automatically — data belongs to one organization. Sharing across organizations is deliberate and limited by design, precisely to preserve isolation.
If I delete my membership, is the organization's data gone? No. Data belongs to the organization, not to you personally. Removing a person's membership removes their access, not the organization's records.
Where do I see which organizations I belong to? Open the Account app; it lists your active organization and all your memberships.
Is my data encrypted and backed up? Platform-level security and backups are handled for you. For specifics about your plan, contact support.
