Understand the shape every app shares

One shell, many apps

A big reason the workspace feels fast is that every app shares the same surrounding shell. The left rail, the top bar, and the overall page frame don't change when you move from StretchCRM to StretchBooks to StretchMail. Only the content in the middle changes. Learn the frame once and every app is instantly navigable.

What stays the same in every app

No matter which app you open, these are always present and always in the same place:

• The left rail — with your current app highlighted and its category expanded, so you never lose your place.
• The top bar — breadcrumb, theme toggle, notifications, and your account chip.
• The content region — where the app itself lives.

Because of this, actions like "switch to another app," "check notifications," "toggle dark mode," or "confirm which workspace I'm in" work identically everywhere.

The common in-app layout

Within the content region, apps follow a consistent internal pattern too:

1. A header (hero) at the top of the app — the app's name, a short summary of what it does, and its primary action buttons.
2. A content grid or panels below — cards, tables, boards, or lists that make up the app's actual working area.

This shared app surface means the "create," "filter," and "open record" controls tend to live in predictable spots. Moving from one app to another feels like changing rooms in the same building, not walking into a different building.

Loading and transitions

When you open an app, you may briefly see a loading state — the shell stays put while the app's content is fetched, then fills in. This is normal and usually quick. Because the shell renders first, you can already start navigating (for example, changing your mind and clicking a different app) without waiting.

Theme and personalization

The light/dark theme you choose in the top bar applies across every app. It's a personal setting tied to you, so switching apps never resets it, and it doesn't affect your teammates. Notifications and your account chip are likewise consistent everywhere.

A quick example

At Payne Coaching, Sam spends the morning in StretchCRM, then opens StretchProjects in the afternoon. The header sits in the same place with the app name and primary actions; the left rail still shows Sam's position; dark mode is still on. Sam never has to re-learn where the "new" button or the workspace switcher lives — they're exactly where they were in CRM. When a card takes a moment to load, the shell is already there, so Sam clicks straight over to StretchTasks without waiting.

Tips

• The header is where the main actions live. When you open an unfamiliar app, look at its top-of-page header first for the primary "create" or "open" buttons.
• The rail is always your exit. You never have to hunt for a "back" button — the left rail is a constant way to move to any other app or to the Dashboard.
• Your theme follows you, not the app. Set it once and forget it.

Troubleshooting

"An app is stuck on its loading state." Give it a few seconds; if it doesn't finish, refresh the page. The shell loading first is expected — a persistent spinner in the content area usually means a slow network or a temporary service hiccup.

"The app content looks different from another app." Each app's content is unique to its job — a spreadsheet looks nothing like a video room. What's shared is the frame around it (rail, top bar, header pattern), not the inner tools.

"Dark mode looks off in one app." Toggle the theme once in the top bar to reapply it; the setting is global, so this resyncs any app that rendered before the theme loaded.
