Switch between organizations and workspaces

Why switching exists

Your StretchSuite account can belong to several organizations at once — your own company, a client's workspace, a partner's. Because every session is organization-scoped (it resolves against exactly one organization at a time), you choose which one is active. Switching changes the entire context: the dashboard, apps, files, and data all follow the organization you select. Nothing from one organization is ever visible while another is active.

When the workspace selector appears

• At sign-in. If you belong to more than one organization, signing in takes you straight to /select-workspace to pick one. If you belong to only one, you skip this and go directly to your dashboard.
• On demand. Any time you want to change context, open the selector from the Switch Workspace action.

Steps: switch your active organization

1. Open /account and select Switch Workspace in the Account Actions card. (Or go to /select-workspace directly.)
2. Review the list of organizations you belong to. Each entry shows the organization's label, its organization ID, and your role in it (owner, admin, or member).
3. Find the organization you want and select Open Workspace on its card.
4. Your dashboard reloads, now resolving against the organization you chose. Confirm the switch on /account, where the chosen organization shows as your Active workspace.

Steps: confirm which organization is active

1. Open /account.
2. Read the Active organization card — it names the current workspace and your role.
3. In Organization Memberships, the active one is tagged Active workspace; the others are tagged Available workspace.

Realistic example

Rosa belongs to two organizations: Rosa Studio (where she's owner) and Meridian Bank (where she's a member with limited app access). She signs in and, because she has two memberships, lands on /select-workspace. She opens Rosa Studio to do her own bookkeeping. An hour later a Meridian task comes in; she selects Switch Workspace, chooses Meridian Bank, and her dashboard now shows only Meridian's data and the specific apps she's been granted there. When she's done, she switches back to Rosa Studio — the two never overlap.

Tips

• Check the active organization before you create anything. A quick look at /account prevents putting a note, invoice, or file in the wrong workspace.
• Your role can differ per organization. You might be an owner in one and a member in another; the selector shows the role for each so there are no surprises about what you can do after switching.
• Bookmark /account, not a deep app link. Because deep links resolve against the active organization, landing on /account first lets you confirm context before diving into an app.

Troubleshooting

• The selector says "No active workspace memberships were found." Your account isn't attached to any active organization. An owner or admin needs to add you, or your membership isn't active yet. See Understand organization membership and context.
• An organization you expect is missing. You may have been added under a different email, or the membership isn't active. Confirm the email on your account (/account) and ask the organization's admin to check how you were added.
• You keep landing on the selector every sign-in. That's normal with multiple memberships — pick one each time, or open a workspace and continue; the active choice is remembered for the session.
• You switched but still see the old workspace's data. Reload the dashboard. If it persists, sign out and back in, then re-select the organization.

FAQ

Can I have two organizations open in two tabs? The active organization is tied to your session, so opening a second tab generally follows the same active context rather than giving you two independent workspaces side by side. Switch deliberately when you change what you're working on.

Does switching change my permissions? Yes — your role and granted apps are per organization. After switching, you have exactly the access that organization has assigned to you, no more and no less.
