Manage your subscription and invoices

Upgrade or change your plan through checkout, use the customer portal to manage the subscription, and find and download your invoices.

Where billing lives

Everything about your organization's subscription is on the Billing page at /billing: your current plan and renewal date, the tiers and bundles you can buy, usage meters, your current entitlements, and your invoice history. Billing changes are made by the organization owner — the owner is the responsible party for the subscription.

Reading your current plan

At the top, the Current plan section shows three things:

  • Current plan — the plan name and its status.
  • Renewal — the next renewal date, or a note that a cancellation is scheduled if you've set the subscription to end at the period's close.
  • Billing data — whether the billing backend is fully connected; if it shows a degraded state, the page falls back to the local plan catalog and some live details may be temporarily unavailable.

Steps: upgrade or change your plan (checkout)

  1. Open /billing (or reach it via Upgrade on a Locked app in /my-apps, which pre-focuses the app you want).
  2. Find the tier or bundle you want and select its upgrade button.
  3. You'll be taken to secure Stripe Checkout to enter payment details and confirm.
  4. After paying, you're returned to Billing with a "Checkout completed" notice. Your entitlements update once the payment provider's confirmation syncs back — this can take a moment, so give it a minute and reload if a newly purchased app hasn't unlocked yet.
  5. If you cancel out of checkout, you'll see "Checkout was cancelled" and your current access is unchanged.

Steps: manage an existing subscription (customer portal)

  1. On /billing, select Manage subscription (or Customer portal).
  2. This opens the secure customer portal, where you can update payment methods, review the subscription, and manage renewal or cancellation.
  3. Make your changes in the portal and return to /billing to confirm the updated status and renewal date.

If the portal link isn't available yet, you'll see a "Customer portal pending" note — in that case, use checkout for upgrades and contact billing support for changes that require the portal.

Steps: find and download an invoice

  1. Scroll to the Invoices section on /billing.
  2. Each row shows the invoice number, date, amount, and status.
  3. Select View on a row to open that invoice's hosted page, where you can see and download it.
  4. If no invoices appear yet, none have been generated for the organization.

Steps: check your current entitlements

  1. On /billing, find the Entitlements panel.
  2. It shows your plan key, the apps currently unlocked, and any bundles in effect.
  3. Cross-reference this with /my-apps to confirm which apps show as Entitled.

Realistic example

Beacon Agency needs StretchContracts, an Agency-tier app currently Locked. The owner, Priya, opens /billing, selects the Agency tier's upgrade button, and completes Stripe Checkout. She returns to a "Checkout completed" banner. A minute later, the Entitlements panel lists Contracts among the unlocked apps, and /my-apps shows it as Entitled. The next month, Priya opens the Customer portal from Billing to update the card on file, and downloads that month's invoice with View for her bookkeeping.

Tips

  • Only the owner should run billing changes. Members and admins can view Billing, but the owner is responsible for purchases and the subscription.
  • Expect a short sync delay. Entitlements refresh after the payment provider confirms — don't panic if a new app takes a moment to unlock.
  • Use the app-focused upgrade path. Selecting Upgrade on a Locked app in My Apps carries that app into Billing so you land on the right tier faster.
  • Keep invoices for your records. The View link opens the hosted invoice you can download for accounting.

Troubleshooting

  • "Checkout is not available for this workspace yet." The billing backend may not be fully wired for your organization, or checkout isn't enabled. If Billing shows a degraded/local-catalog state, try again shortly or contact billing support.
  • I paid but apps didn't unlock. Wait for the confirmation to sync, then reload /my-apps. If it still hasn't updated after a while, confirm the payment went through in the customer portal and contact support.
  • "Customer portal pending." The self-serve portal link isn't available yet for your account. Use checkout for upgrades and contact billing support for cancellations or payment-method changes.
  • The renewal date or plan looks wrong. If Billing is in a degraded state, live values may be temporarily unavailable; check again later or reach out to support with your organization ID.

FAQ

How do I cancel? Manage cancellation from the customer portal via Manage subscription. If you've scheduled a cancellation, the Current plan card notes that the cancellation is scheduled for the period end; access continues until then.

Can a member see billing? The Billing page is viewable, but only the owner should make changes. Members typically won't be able to complete a purchase.

Where do refunds or payment disputes go? Payment is handled through the secure provider. For refunds or disputes, use the customer portal where available and contact billing support with the relevant invoice number from the Invoices section.
